This blog is in place of keeping a material "disease" journal for a class called "Gender and Health" in the Department of Gender and Women's Studies at UC Berkeley. I will discuss major themes of the course in relationship to pregnancy and birthing, which I am calling diseases because of their rich history of (bio)medicalization.
